What We Believe

  • We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is without error in the original manuscripts. We believe that God used men and their languages, customs, and backgrounds, but that the final product is entirely God’s revelation.  Therefore, the Bible is the ultimate rule of authority in all areas of life and faith.
  • We believe that there is one God who has eternally existed in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, was sinless during his life on earth, died in our place for our sins, and was raised on the third day defeating sin and death. We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully human and is currently sitting at the right hand of his Father making intercession on our behalf.
  • We believe that men and women are created in the image of God. However, because of the original sin of Adam and Eve, all who are born of the flesh are born with a sin nature and can do nothing to bring themselves into a right standing before God.
  • We believe that there is salvation in no one else but Jesus Christ. Salvation is purely a gift given by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus. The sinner must recognize his depravity and call upon the name of the Lord, believing that Jesus died in his place paying the penalty for his sins, and that God raised Jesus from the dead. It is through faith in Jesus that we become one with him in his death and resurrection, being freed from the power of sin and clothed with the righteousness of Christ.  It is perhaps important to note in the day and age we live in that we believe that justification is by faith alone. Justification is not progressive, but rather is a one time act of God where he pardons our sins based on the sacrifice of his one and only Son, and imputes the Son’s righteousness in us.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer and is at work in the believer’s life to bring about sanctification, empowering them to live a life fully pleasing to the Lord. We believe that the Holy Spirit gives gifts to every believer solely at his discretion, and for the purpose of building up the church.
  • We believe that anyone who comes to faith in Jesus should observe the two sacraments he commanded: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  • We believe that the church is made up of all who believe in Jesus and that it is through the church that God continues his mission of bringing salvation to the ends of the earth.
  • We believe in a personal, visible, pre-millennial return of Christ at a time only known by God. Therefore, believers must be ready, going about God’s business not knowing when the day of Christ’s return will be.
  • We believe that everyone will one day be resurrected. Believers will be resurrected unto eternal life with God.  Non-believers will be resurrected unto eternal punishment in hell.
